WHY OFFER AESTHETIC TREATMENTS AT AN EYE CLINIC?
Many of our patients who suffer from Dry Eye Disease also struggle with skin conditions such as acne, rosacea, and the loss of skin elasticity. As Dry Eye Specialists, we know that this is due to the fact that there is a link between eye health and skin health. During exams, we often discover that patients are using topical skincare products that contain ingredients that are proven to be harmful to the ocular surface and the meibomian glands in the eyelids.
Check the ingredient lists on your favorite products! Do they contain any of the eye irritants below?
- BENZALKONIUM CHLORIDE (BAK)
- ALCOHOL
- RETINOL
- PARABENS
- ISOPROPYL CLOPROSTENATE
- FORMALDEHYDE & FORMALDEHYDE DONORS
- PHENOXYETHANOL
- BUTYLENE GLYCOL
- ETHYLENEDIAMINETETRAACETIC ACID (EDTA)
- ARGIRELINE (ACETYL HEXAPEPTIDE-3, LIPOTEC)
We are excited to offer our menu of aesthetic treatments as an alternative to using products that are harmful to the eyes! For example, instead of using a product that contains Retinol for anti-aging, you may now come to our office and receive a Microneedling treatment, which boosts the skin’s collagen production and tightens the skin from within. Or, if you are currently taking Accutane, a systemic acne treatment which causes meibomian gland atrophy, you may instead receive a series of Intense Pulsed Light treatments, which can target acne infections.
Take a look at our Aesthetics Service Menu and give our office a call to find the right treatment for you!
